Message from the Chairperson

The Department of English is committed to academic excellence, intellectual growth, and the promotion of critical thinking among students. The department strives to provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment where fairness, transparency, and equal opportunities are ensured for all students and faculty members.

We take pride in maintaining high academic standards through quality teaching, research, and innovative learning practices. Our faculty members are dedicated to guiding students toward academic success and professional development. Through seminars, workshops, and scholarly activities, the department continuously works to enhance the learning experience and encourage creativity and independent thinking.

We welcome students and scholars to be part of our academic community and contribute positively to the advancement of knowledge and the development of society.

Introduction

This department started working with the start of the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University, Shaheed Benazirabad in 2012.

The University authority provided an all out support to turn our passion into reality. This department has taken promise to translate dreams of the people in reality.

There are classes right from BS English First year to four-year program. The separate disciplines has been initiated for the students would-be to study English literature and linguistics, after the completion of their Bachelors. Last but not the least there is good news that the department has a program in the pipe line regarding M. Phil & PhD in the days to come. Therefore, interested candidates prepare themselves.

Vision

To help students see themselves as professionals, as part of a discipline with skills and abilities valuable in the business, teaching, publishing, or post-graduate work.

Mission

The learners will be facilitated to explore and apply the wider range of opportunities in the discipline for effective global communication keeping step with the advancement, fully supported by modern tools.

Aims & Objectives

1) Develop ability and capacity to reflect, criticize, plan and evaluate.

2) Analyze individual texts and explore comparison between the text material and available content.

3) Understand the significance of social and historical context.

4) Develop communication and presentation skills in students.

5) Produce and enhance critical thinking.

6) Develop creative, new and initiative skills.

7) Analyze the major schools and movements in linguistics.

8) Create environment devoid of all bias and discriminations.

9) Conduct rational research for academic growth.

10) Develop role models in sincerity, loyalty, patriotism, commitment and dedication.
