Structure of SBBU - Law Degree

The LL.B program is organized in a modular pattern. The teaching year is divided into two semesters.

Each Semester is of 18 weeks, with 16 weeks for teaching and two weeks for revision. There is an exam at the end of the first semester of the year but for the promotion into the next year, the students are required to pass the final examination of the year that is conducted at end of second semester.

The details of the breakup of proposed LLB degree program is as following:

1) Eligibility/ Pre-requisite for admission: FA/FSc or Equivalent.

2) Total number of credit hours: 166.

3) Duration: 5 years (10 semesters).

4) Semester duration: 16-18 weeks.

5) Course load per semester: 15-18 credit hours.

6) Number of courses per semester: 5-6 Courses.

7) 10 compulsory courses of 28 credits.

8) 08 general and non-law courses of 24 credits.

9) 34 law specific and major courses of 102 credits.

10) 4 elective courses within the major courses.

11) The scheme of studies is in accordance with the HEC Standards.

Learning Objectives:

The Learning Objectives of the proposed LLB degree program, its structure and course contents of the LLB degree are focused such as to:

1) Inculcate in students a broad understanding of the social, political, economic and legal contexts within which the Pakistani and global legal system operates;

2) Equip students with knowledge and understanding of the fundamental doctrines and principles of Law;

3) Develop the intellectual and practical skills necessary for the practice or employment in the legal profession and other careers.

Learning Outcome:

The course contents and the teaching methodology placed is emphasis upon the acquisition and development of a wide range of intellectual and practical skills of students so that they can analyze, evaluate, synthesize and apply conceptual information to practical legal problems. Attention is focused to develop the intellectual and practical skills and in particular law students should be able to develop and demonstrate independent thinking, plan and carry out independent research and apply basic legal research skills and research techniques. In addition to that the course contents and the teaching methodology is designed to; develop the written and oral skills of the students, build their capacity to problem-solving; and expand their knowledge of information technology.

Admission:

An Intermediate or equivalent degree with at least 50% marks is required to apply for admission in the SBBU-Law Program. The law admission Test (LAT) qualified that is conducted by Higher Education Commission is mandatory for admission in any Law Program, which is followed by an interview. Applicants are evaluated on the basis of past academic record and performance in admission and in interview.

Tuition Fee & other Charges:

The admission fee is Rs. 5000 and Library Fee 2000. To be paid once only. Rs. 3000 non-refundable registration fee to register the students who are willing to study at The SBBU-Law Program. Fee for each semester is Rs. 50,000, which is to be paid by successful applicants at the time of registration for each semester. It also covers the expenses for the facilities of Computer Lab and Library facilities at SBBU-Law College.
